Sunset Villa I

Sunset Villa I is an unassuming two-bedroom residence integrated into a sloping site on the outskirts of Athens. Surrounded by lush greenery, the house is thoughtfully oriented to harmonize with the natural landscape while featuring a seamlessly integrated adjoining pool.

The architectural concept draws inspiration from the changing colors and temperatures of the Mediterranean sunset. The interior design creates a deliberate dialogue between warm and cool elements: the natural warmth of the wall finishes contrasts with the sleek cool tones of metallic surfaces, reflecting the transition from the golden orange of the setting sun to the deep purples of twilight. Through a curated palette of materials and colors, space is functionally delineated and transformed into a fluid spatial arrangement where soft and hard textures continuously oscillate.

Custom metallic surfaces and surrounding water bodies capture and soften light reflections, echoing the serene atmosphere of dusk. Complementing the architectural study, the tailored lighting design apart from the obvious functional necessity, complements the overall spatial experience, pairing light form and temperature to material and colour. It also enhances or obscures the inside – outside relation.
